DMVP Bamboo veneer is a highly sustainable veneer because its raw material, bamboo, grows within 6 years to maturity. When harvesting the bamboo, the forest is not cut down: one uses only the old plants. By removing the old plants, more light and water (thus: energy) is left for the younger plants. So by harvesting bamboo, the forest will actually be healthier and grow faster.
We at DMVP offer a hardwood which requires no FSC, because it is actually not a wood but a grass: bamboo. A bamboo floor is the best choice if you want to be sure no forests are cut down. In addition to the ‘green’ aspect, a DMVP bamboo floor also has a unique look: the rings of the bamboo stem are visible in the flooring surface as small knots. No wooden floor has the same beauty as a DMVP bamboo floor!
Because of its ‘rapid renew-ability’ and because of its low emissions, DMVP bamboo contributes to the US LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) rating system: MR Credit 6: Rapidly Renewable Materials and IEQ Credit 4: Low-Emitting Materials.
